On April 20th and 21st, 104 participants attended the National Technical Seminar and Master Class in Vernon, B.C. The two days of courses were conducted by CTFI Technical Director Grand Master Pierre Laquerre and CTFI President Grand Master Clint Norman. The weekend long event was hosted by Sundance Martial Arts.
The National Technical Seminar was held on Saturday and was open to participants ages 10 and up, blue belt and higher. The training consisted of fundamental exercises, patterns, step-sparring, and some very high-energy sparring drills. There were several Masters and Instructors in attendance. Many of the colour belt attendees were attending their very first seminar of this type. The seminar was well received with lots of positive feedback from the members in attendance.
On Sunday the Master Class was held with 22, 6th degree and higher masters and instructors in attendance. The three-hour course covered all the requirements for the master grading along with examples of self defense, breaking techniques, and senior patterns.
After the Master Class, a master’s grading for 7th and 8th degree was conducted by Grand Master Laquerre and Grand Master Norman. The CTFI would like to offer its sincere congratulations to Master Kevin Reinelt who was promoted to 8th degree, as well as Master Brandi Merritt, Master David White and Master Grant Arden who were all promoted to 7th degree black belt.
The next Technical Seminar and Master Class will be held in Quebec City on May 5th and conducted in French.
