CANADIAN WESTERN AND EASTERN TAEKWON-DO CHAMPIONSHIPS
Dear CTFI Members,
Once again, the Western and Eastern Canadian Championships are behind us with the Eastern Championships held March 8th in Oakville, Ontario, hosted by the Taekwon-Do Academy of Ontario and the Western Championships held March 22nd in Kamloops, BC, hosted by Mr. Gill.
Both events were a great success!
Selected athletes from the Eastern and Western Championships will compete at the National selection on Sunday April 20th the day after the Can Am Championships. The top athletes will be named to the official National Sparring Teams for the 2009 world Junior and Senior Taekwon-Do Championships in Argentina.
I would like to thank all the judges and referees for all their hard work. The level of our officials is increasingly improving thanks to Mr. Kurt Ottesen the CTFI Umpire Director. I would also like to thank Mr. MacKenzie the CTFI Tournament Director for his ongoing effort in improving the tournament packages.
Together we have a great team, with many new instructors getting involved and volunteering their expertise. I foresee a positive impact in the development of an even stronger organization in Canada.
