CTFI Technical Seminar a “Huge” Success!

Saturday February 22, 2014 saw 102 Taekwon-Do practitioners from BC andAlberta come together for the first CTFI Technical Seminar in Western Canada in 7 years.  Led by CTFI Technical Director, Master Pierre Laquerre (8th Degree), the event was hosted and organized by the team at Triumph Taekwon-Do, led by Mr. Kevin Reinelt and Ms. Brianne Thompson.   Held at Kwayhquitlum Middle School in Port Coquitlam, BC, students from yellow belt to 7th Degree Black Belt attended from as far away as Calgary, Prince George and Burns Lake.

Everyone had a great time during the very full day, improving their patterns technique and learning some sparring secrets.  As usual, Master Laquerre impressed the group with his vast technical knowledge and his supreme physical ability.  He is a very fun teacher too, keeping the kids and adults laughing and working hard together.  Everyone left feeling motivated and excited to get back to their dojangs and train hard!

The following day saw the launch of a new concept – a High Performance Competition Coaching Seminar.  A small group of highly motivated students came for a ½ day of focus on an elite level of competition coaching.  Each person was evaluated individually by Master Laquerre for their choice of Sparring or Patterns competition.  Master Laquerre helped them to understand their strengths and weaknesses, how to improve or hide weaknesses, how to take advantage of strengths.  Every participant left with a training guide to help them achieve success in competition.

It was an excellent weekend of focused training!  It was also a demonstration of the strength of ITF Taekwon-Do in BC and Alberta!  Many thanks are extended by Mr Reinelt to Master Laquerre for taking a lot of his valuable time to do this, to the hard working volunteers from Triumph Taekwon-Do who helped build the seminar, and especially to the dedicated participants who travelled a long ways on some very bad roads to get there.

Everyone is now asking when the next seminar will be…
